on the way to Home Depot (again)

kids: We don't want to go. Do we have to go in? Why do we always have to go in?
me: you know, there's no Home Depot in American Samoa.
kids: Yay! How long until we move?!

the wonderful world of food

When Everett grows up he is going to grow HUGE fruits and vegetables, including a watermelon as big as the whole earth. He says it will take lots of cutting to get to the middle, and he and Simon will eat holes big enough for people to fit (and live) inside.

I think my genius kid just came up with a solution to end world hunger. Pass the Nobel prize this way... that is, assuming the earth survives having a world-sized watermelon growing on it.

MY frisbee!

Some of you may not know that I am related to the utlimate, ultimate frisbee player. As part of his obsession he designed a logo for Daweena, an ultimate tournament in Utah. Each year people submit designs to be used on the discs for that year. When he came to visit us last year he was playing around with some designs and I gave suggestions. His design was chosen and here's my reward!

something to cry about

When you find out that you've never ridden in a convertible and your brother has, even though he was too young to remember it and you didn't know what a convertible was until 2 minutes ago, it's probably something to cry about. Don't you think?

Before and After

I decided I needed a break from studying so here are some before and after pictures of our house. The backyard pictures aren't exactly "before" since we pulled out some of the worst stuff before we thought to take pictures and it doesn't show the beautiful trenches along the sides that were so kindly dug for us by the many dogs who used to live here. But here is what it used to look like:
And here it is now:

Notice how we have lawn instead of clumps of grass - impressive, eh? I especially like how Everett and Simon's front end loader and dump truck were ready to work when we needed them and then started playing soccer once the job was done.

Here's the other major project we've tackled, the bathroom. It went from PINK:

To green(ish) neutral non-color color. Think it's an improvement?

Everett loved the pink, but even he likes the new bathroom better than the old.

From Here to There

Since we are moving to Samoa we thought it would be fun to create this blog site. Very unique, huh (we in no way stole, thought of, borrowed, plagarized, copied, or in any other way or means took this idea from current clerks in American Samoa...lol)? Right now we are in the process of fixing up our house.

Well actually, I am in the process of finishing up the work we started. Julia started studying for the bar and the, "Oh crap, I'm in trouble" moment finally hit her. All of the attorneys out there know what Im talking about. I'll post some pictures later showing the progress that we have made on the house.

Anyway, we are going from here:

To There:
