a bonfire and other sources of entertainment

It's a sad day when you live on a tropical island and you suddenly realize that you aren't quite as fascinated by trips to the beach as you used to be. So we've come up with some other fun things to keep ourselves entertained.

Like a huge bonfire! This idea was sparked by some absurd business practices on this island. Clif's office has no way to discard confidential documents (imagine the liability anywhere else!). He didn't feel comfortable just throwing certain things in the trash so he came home with boxes of legal documents to burn. After one bonfire, we realized what pyromaniacs our kids are -collecting all the dead leaves and sticks from our yard can keep Everett and Simon entertained for hours. So we decided to build another one, roast marshmallows, make some smores, and call it a party. Clif even made homemade pina coladas from freshly squeezed coconut cream and fresh pineapple -mmmmmm.

And crazy pancakes always make breakfast more exciting. This was one of my favorite things to have for breakfast when I was a kid so it was nice to see that Everett and Simon were just as fascinated by shaped pancakes as I used to be.

... and then it's back to the beach!
